What I love about this: Well obviously when Amelia Pond went looking for the Doctor, she would bump into his seventh incarnation and Ace...

What is this?: This story is, I suppose, crack!fic though the kind of crack!fic you can almost imagine happening in the show. It's short and funny. Ten is impressed by Maria, Luke and Clyde.

What is this?: When Donna Noble was six here mother refused to take her on holiday. Undaunted, she got on a bus and went to Strathclyde anyway where, it transpires, she is not the only person who is six.

What is this?: I was looking back over my Doctor Who recs and realised I'd recced a lot of Donna fixits. This, I have to confess, is another of them. But I do feel that the concept of Donna as Christina's PA and tame mad scientist is a great idea.

Fandom: Doctor Who
Rating: All Ages
Characters/Pairings: Amy/Rory, Eleven
Length: 19,311

What is this?: The conceit of this story is that the major milestones in Amy's life occurred on twelve specific days each in one of the twelve years that she waited for the Doctor. It was published in 2010, so it is unaware of some of the subsequent facts we learned about Amy and Rory as they grew up, however it's still a lovely story with a strong focus on their relationship.

Rating: Teen
Characters/Pairings: Eleven, Rory
Length: 8,529 words

What is this?: Rory Williams was one of my favourite things about the 11th Doctor era, and a lot of that was to do with his complex relationship with the Doctor. This story show cases that relationship in a focused interaction between the two, but it also has a gently humourous and very in-character internal monologue for Rory.

Fandom: Doctor Who
Rating: Adult
Characters/Pairings: Fitz/Eight, Sam
Length: 30,196

What is this?: *sigh* It's a Victorian Obverse AU of the BBC Eighth Doctor novels, which makes it really difficult to explain, since the EDAs are not well known, the Obverse is a canon AU (in which the Doctor is half-human because his mother is a mermaid) and then this is a Victorian AU of that. It's really a love story between the Doctor and Fitz, playing out against Victorian culture and attitudes.

Characters/Pairings: Jenny/Vastra
Length: 29,268

What is this?: This is very satisfying story about Madame Vastra and Jenny Flint's adventures in Victorian London. In this case they are alerted to the possible presence of a jiang shi (a chinese vampire) and set out to investigate. The story has plenty of plot, action, detection and character development and is written from Jenny's point of view. It exactly the sort of thing one would hope to get from a spin-off series for these characters.

What is this?: I really like [personal profile] sahiya's prose style. This is a gentle little story of a meeting between River and Rose.

Fandom: Dr Who
Rating: T
Characters/Pairings: Davros, OCs
Length: 3,750 words

Cover found with story, not mine.

What is this?: There must have been a first Dalek right? A casualty of the Kaled-Thal war who Davros experimented upon. There was probably also a lab tech, and some debate about the name of the new creatures and well... a gently humourous story of a disgruntled experimental Dalek and his friend Normon.

Characters/Pairings: Rory Williams

What is this?: This is one of those stories that more or less does what it says on the tin. Rory Williams' diary as he moves through the history of an alternate version of the Earth (one where there are no stars) waiting for the Pandorica to open.

What is this?: The Doctor and Jack have sex, as told in the style of the Hitch Hikers' Guide to the Galaxy.

All That for a Rubbish Punchline by nostalgia

Fandom: Doctor Who
Rating: General Audiences
Characters/Pairings: Eleven/River, Amy/Rory
Length: 2,623 worlds

What is this?: The tangled story of Amy, Rory, River and the Doctor is, in many respects, a hot mess which doesn't make a whole load of sense and is in bad, bad need of a fixit. Several obvious ones present themselves. This one is nicely written and fixes a lot of stuff in a way that is canon compliant if you squint.

Fandom: Doctor Who
Rating: Teen?
Characters/Pairings: Oswin Oswald, 11th Doctor
Length: 4,051 words

What is this?: This was written, I think, in the immediate aftermath of Asylum of the Daleks when everyone was speculating on how Jenna Louise Coleman's character could become a companion. This story presumes that the 11th Doctor takes her on board in Dalek form and then examines what that would be like. Warning: angst.

A well-written story with sparse but evocative prose, telling us what Amy did in the Year that Never was.

This is a great slice of backstory for Madame Vastra.

Romana and Ivanova make a surprisingly compelling in this story. It captures both of them very well and explores their post-canon personalities.

The Doctor and Romana attempt to fall in love using "Great Romantic Tropes of our Time" as a guide. Silly and fun!
