A lovely look at Christmas in the years between Harriet's acquittal from the murder charge and her marriage to Peter. It showcases Eiluned and Mary and is all the better for it!! It was a fandom stocking gift and the only link I have to it is to the stocking, though I have confidence May has posted it elsewhere too!!

Summary:
Fandom: Lord Peter Wimsey
Rating: U / PG
Characters/Pairings: Harriet/Peter, Miss Meteyard/Mr Ingleby, Miss Climpson, the Dowager Duchess, Helen
Length: Short Story

What is this?: This is a lovely little short story set after Harriet's marriage to Peter, in which she gets a mystery of her own to unravel. The prose is very reminscient of Sayers' and the characters feel very familiar.
The Conscience of the Queen by Ione
Fandom: Lord Peter Wimsey
Rating: PG
Characters/Pairings: Peter/Harriet
Length: Three short scenes

What is this?: When you think about it, Peter's life was quite unusual, even for the 1930s. These three "questions" lightly and amusingly touch on a couple of surprises and a point of negotiation for Harriet.

Fandom: Lord Peter Wimsey

Characters/Pairings: Peter, Harriet, And Others
Length: Short Story

What is this?: The concept of a "fixit" is well-known throughout fandom but this is probably the only "breaksit" I've come across.
tree_and_leaf takes the events of Strong Poison and asks what would have happened if it had all gone wrong. The result is beautifully written and completely devastating.

Characters/Pairings: Sir Impey Biggs
Length: Short Story

What is this?: Sir Impey Biggs is present in a number of the Lord Peter Wimsey stories as Peter's barrister of choice. AJHall picked up a comment Sir Impey makes in The Unprincipled Affair of the Practical Joker to whit "As a lawyer, I can only say I have consistently refused to defend a blackmailer or to prosecute any poor devil who does away with his tormentor." This contravenes something known as the cab-rank rule which essentially states that a lawyer must accept any brief he receives. In The Principled Affair of the Compromised K. C. AJHall seeks to examine both why Sir Impey chooses to ignore this rule and how he gets around it.

Characters/Pairings: Peter, Bunter, Dowager Duchess
Length: Short Story

What is this?: This is a heart-wrenching story elaborating on the Dowager Duchesses brief comments on the state Peter was in after the war and the way in which Bunter turned up and rescued the situation. The Dowager Duchesses segments capture her voice beautifully.
The Beginning by lyras

Fandom: Man from Uncle/Lord Peter Wimsey
Length: Multiple Parts
Characters: An Old Lord Peter and Bunter and a young Illya Kuryakin
What I love about this: This was the first piece of Wimseyfic I stumbled across from what appears (from this month's crack_van recs anyway) to be a peculiarly high quality fandom. This story is of an ageing Lord Peter stumbling across crime in a Cambridge college where a young Illya Kuryakin happens to be on an exchange. It's Lord Peter is, perhaps, a little more persistently arch and frivolous than Sayers' version but it is worth it for the young Communist Illya's uptight disapproval. The story also has a proper plot with genuine detecting and so on of which I heartily approve.

Summary:
Written as a birthday present for Nineveh_uk and inspired by her doing dreadful things to Peter and Harriet on their honeymoon. This starts at the point at which they arrive at the hospital with Bunter feeling not quite his usual infallible self.
There is very little Peter and lots of Harriet. I could have put Harriet-Peter-Bunter under Relationships but it would have given rather the wrong impression. There is also police incompetence, wilful disregard of the speed limit and handwavey chemistry.
